Exhibition “Ampère en continu” (… Ampère in DC)

Exhibition : «Ampère en continu »
The BU (university library) invites you to explore the life of this genius scientist who pioneered the field of electricity and whose insights have had a profound influence on many of his successors. The exhibition will focus on the man and his discoveries. Ongoing research in Lyon’s laboratories will be combined with historical instruments and documents to illuminate the development of electricity.

From 8 October 2024 to 2 February 2025, BU Gallery, BU Sciences, Lyon-Tech La Doua campus
Opening : symphony of lightning from Tesla coils
Musical scores are made up of sound waves with specific frequencies. The Tesla coil reacts to these frequencies and rhythmically generates electric arcs based on these sound waves for each note. The Clubelek will come and blow your mind with a musical demonstration. Get ready for a spectacular immersion in the world of electricity!

Mardi 8 octobre à 18h30, devant la BU Sciences, campus Lyon-Tech La Doua
Lecture – Debate : What kind of electricity for tomorrow ? role of the sea
access to the video recording on YouTube BU Lyon 1

Seas and oceans have lots of potential for generating electricity in the future. Tidal power plants, wave-powered devices, tidal turbines and offshore wind farms are some of the key players in this transformation. We will also discuss other, less well-known aspects, such as generating electricity using reverse osmosis, the challenges of interconnection and the possibility of producing edible batteries.
Speakers :
