Einstein and Ampère

Albert Einstein was an iconic theoretical physicist. He did, however, conduct one experiment. The only scientific experiment conceived and carried out by Albert Einstein, in conjunction with the Dutch physicist Wander de Haas, with the aim of demonstrating a theory by André-Marie Ampère, the theory of molecular currents.

The only complete surviving copy of the Einstein-de Haas experiment can be admired at the Musée Ampère.
