to the celebrations in 2025 marking the 250th anniversary of Amp\u00e8re&#8217;s birth. The <strong>Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des Amis d&#8217;Andr\u00e9-Marie Amp\u00e8re <\/strong>(SAAMA), the <strong>Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de l&#8217;\u00c9lectricit\u00e9, de l&#8217;\u00c9lectronique et des technologies de l&#8217;information et de la communication<\/strong> (SEE) and <strong>Alumni ONERA<\/strong> have joined forces to organise this symposium, under the patronage of the French National Commission for UNESCO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px\"><br>This symposium will benefit from the<strong> exceptional participation of G\u00e9rard Mourou, winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics<\/strong> and godfather for the commemorations, whose commitment illustrates the link between the great scientific figures of the past and major contemporary advances in the field of physics. This event is also part of a series of \u2018<strong>History &amp; Science\u2019<\/strong> conferences initiated by Alumni ONERA, in partnership with the French Academy of Sciences, and also under the patronage of the French National Commission for UNESCO. These conferences aim to highlight the scientific work of influential figures in history and offer a contemporary perspective on their disciplines. The proceedings of these symposiums are published in the <strong>Comptes rendus de M\u00e9canique de l&#8217;Acad\u00e9mie des sciences<\/strong> (Moivre 2019, Boulliau 2023, Papin 2024, Bertholon 2025), which will also be the case for Amp\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px\"><br>This latest event in the \u2018<strong>Tomorrow, an electric world<\/strong>\u2019 series marks the end of celebrations in honor of <strong>this great scientist born in Lyon<\/strong>. While he is best known for the unit of measurement for electrical current, Andr\u00e9-Marie Amp\u00e8re was also a<strong> mathematician, physicist, chemist and philosopher<\/strong>. The symposium will discuss several aspects of his scientific life. Current scientific and technical advances will also be covered, in keeping with the theme of the celebrations: \u2018Tomorrow, an electric world\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
